Our third idea about how to reuse plastic is using plastic bottles to make sturdy boats and canoes.

Currently, there are multiple techniques of tying plastic bottles together to make a canoe for fishing. Using CAD, we want to create our own version. By doing this, we want to find the best way to position the bottles an tie them together in order to have maximum stability and floatation.

According to the physics of boats and how they work, our design fits different criteria that make it very useful. For example, our curved V- shaped boat is the most ideal shape for a boat. This is because the shape allows it to displace enough water which helps to keep the boat afloat by making the density of the boat and everything on it less than the density of water. It also shows different possible bottle alignments. We want to use the second alignment because less water can get inside the boat. They can be used for fishing, sport and transportation and using the right shape and alignment, these boats are as stable as normal boats and canoes but come with the benefits of reusing plastic. |
