Bottles for Lights Houses for refugees Bottle boats
Bottles for lights are economical and a great use of un-recycled plastic that could easily be used in refugee camps which would enable more saftey at night.
The abundance of un-recycled HDPE and its properties make it a viable material to make temporary housing with.
Our design for bottle boats is a cost-effective mode of transport that could potentially give more independence and mobility to people such as farmers in the developing world.
Because the number of tonnes of plastic in our worlds, especially in the oceans, is continually increasing it is important that we find ways to recycle- especially ways that can help the less fortunate. Our ideas successfully recycle plastic in a cost-effective way that is beneficial to not only our society but to the environment as a whole.
About us We are students, Imisi Fakunle and Anjola Awe from Edinburgh and Plymouth. We are participating in the Talent 2030 competition 2018. Both of us are passionate about STEM and solving world problems. We chose to focus on the issue of plastic waste as it is universal and it does not only affect humans, but animals as well. We are also aware that the production of plastic itself causes harm to our planet so we want to encourage factories and organisations all over the world to stop the production of one-use plastics as soon as possible.
